Musical Diamonds, ch.g., 15.3+h, 2006

"Sail" was adopted from MAHR last fall. His adopter did a great job bringing him along but due to personal reasons could no longer keep him. We took him to a hunter show where he got a ribbon in every class. Two weeks later he went to Olde Hope for his first event and won his Intro Horse division on his dressage score of -34.5! Sail is clean and sound and very easy going. Brave but sensible to the fences. Nothing bothers him, great for a kid or rerider. Very handsome too, with a cool dark liver spot down his right hind.

Update 11/19/11: Sail was adopted and doing very well- however just a few days ago he came up a little off- his adopter has a young draft that has had lots of unresolved issues and big vet bills, and is worried about taking on a second horse and the potential for possible problems, so we are taking him back. In the year we have known/had Sail, he has always been sound except for an abcess- we are not sure why he went a little off but we will have the vet look at him- it could be as simple as that abcess not totally healed, or "horseplay" in the pasture- but keep an eye on our site, he will be available soon, and is an awfully nice horse!! Very quiet, good jumper, suitable for a timid rider---and 150% guaranteed!!!!!- Bev

Update 11/27/11- Totally sound in the field walk, trot, and gallop! Tom opened up the RH abcess and got a little more drainage. Neg to hoof testers RF. We rode him lightly and he was OK at first going to the left, but became sore going to the right and was very crabby about cantering. Body sore along his back and right back/hip.

Update 11/28/11- Vet came out- he was very lame on the straight and  a circle to the right. Neg to hoof testers. Positive flexion RF ankle (which also tests heel and navicular area where tendons insert.) Both ankles show some reduced flexion, which was noted a year ago in his initial PPE (nothing new but last year was negative on all flexions.) Did a heel block and he was almost sound on the straight. Slightly off circle right and left. Improvement after heel block points to possible deep heel bruise or maybe a deep digital flexor tendon strain. Xrayed foot/navicular, "pristine" xrays. Slightly off on both circles could be due to some strain on his ankles but again, he was always sound prior to this, before, during and after jumping and competing. At this point we will give him some time off, keep an eye out for a heel abcess, and re-evaluate in a week or two. Stay tuned-hopefully Dr Green and Dr Time will take care of this.

Update 12/28/11- Sail has been sound and back in work for almost 3 weeks now- we never got any drainage but think he has/had a deep seated abcess- nice nice boy, hopefully this will not bother him again, although I do wish something had popped!
