Merry, grey Welsh mare., 12.1h+, 8 years old. Merry belonged to a family with two little boys who rode her everywhere. She had some sort of pasture accident and badly cut her lower lip on the left side. It was not treated and became an ugly mess. We heard about her on her way to the sale and arranged to buy her and have her dropped at our farm. We had a vet out and he took off the mass. A biopsy revealed squamous cell carcinoma- the good news is that this is easily and successfully treated. She has undergone two treatments and has one more to go. While her lip will always be funky looking, it should heal well and not cause any trouble. She is very gentle and good to ride and is a great first pony. She is not spooky and is sound, although it looks like she has foundered in past - so no rich pastures for her! Adoption fee $800- Merry was adopted! Carol from PA was looking for a pony to be a companion to an old POA who is going blind, and to give pony rides at her church's Harvestfest once a year. She saw Merry and thought she would be perfect! She is a nurse so will be able to keep debriding her lip area. Merry got a clean bill of health from the vet after her last treatment on Monday and was cleared to go. Carol brought her trailer and off they went. Thank you!
