Raneem is looking for a home as a pasture pet! This lovely guy was bred by Darley Stud and started with the best of everything- but then slowly raced down the claiming ranks. He ended up at New Holland where he was purchased by the "Philly guys", and found himself racing around Fairmount Park- after they were through with him, he ended up BACK at New Holland where we bought him from the killers. We adopted him to Brenda of NJ but unfortunately his hard life caught up to him and his ankles were too sore for much riding. We are looking for a home as a pasture pet. He is handsome and sweet and deserves to live out his days being loved and cared for. Email if you can give this good guy a home!

Lion Around was adopted! Julie from SC adopted him through the Secretariat Center at the KY Horse Park. She has had several OTTBs over the years, and Leo was her birthday present to herself! She plans to event him and just have fun. Congratulations! |

Wheels of Stars, grey TB mare, 16.0h, 2001.
Wheels of Stars was adopted by Nicole of MD. She was looking for a project horse to bring along for eventing- Star reminded her of a horse she knew when she was younger. We told her all about the mare, and when she came to see her she wasn't put off by her energy but got right to work with her and rode her beautifully. After a vet check, she went home. Thank you!! |

Spoken Vow, b.g., 16.0h, 2003.
Spoken Vow was adopted by Emily of PA. She originally came to see Vow and the other horses earlier this year but didn't fall for any of them. (At this point, Vow was still in his giraffe stage which didnt
help- you really had to use a lot of imagination to see what he might
become.) After visiting other rescues and farms and vetting a couple that did not pass, Emily came back to MAHR. We urged her to look at Vow again and she did and was quite impressed by how he had changed.
She had him vetted and took him home. He is headed to the show ring.
Congratulations! |

Tornado Chaser, b. g., 16.1h, 2003.
Tornado Chaser was adopted by Lisa (who also adopted Pricedale Kid.) She was looking for another kind gentle gelding that might work for her small private lesson program. We suggested TC. She came and tried him and took him home. So far things are working out well.
Congratulations!!!

Donnabella, ch. f., 16.0h and growing, 2004.
Donnabella was adopted by Heidi of DE. A student at U of D, she has ridden for years but was looking for her first horse. She came to see Donna and really liked her, so got busy organizing boarding, etc. She had her vetted and took her home! She plans to pleasure ride and maybe show. Thank you!
Update July 2008:
Hey!
I just thought I'd send you and update to let you know how Bella's doing! She's settled in very well. She made fast friends with her stall neighbor, a quarter horse named Lady. We had Bella in a paddock by herself for the first few days, and she was very eager to get out into the main pasture and meet the other horses. We let her out about a week ago. She's been finding her place in the herd and getting a few scrapes because of it, but they are healing up quickly. I gave her the 5 day Panacur like the vet suggested, and she took it agreeably. She hasn't noticeably been putting on any weight yet, but she has a tremendous appetite for everything, including carrots now. I still haven't gotten her to eat an apple yet. I took her out on a 2 hr trail today that was fairly mild but a lot of fun. We went over all sorts of terrain and encountered ATVs, hikers, bicyclists, cars, animals, and water. She didn't spook at anything! She is very content and willing as long as she has an equine buddy. I'm amazed at how easygoing she is especially after hearing about all the quirks ex-racehorses tend to have! No one believes it when I tell them she is 4 months off the track. Overall she seems very happy, and right in her element. I love her to death! :)
Thanks!
Heidi

Grace, aged paint mare, 13.2h.
Grace was adopted by Sister Mary of MD! She has an animal sanctuary on the Eastern Shore and was looking for a companion for another old mare. Grace fit the bill. Thank you for giving this grand old gal a great home where all she has to do is keep the grass down! Thank you!
Update July 2008:
Callie and I absolutely love Grace! In fact, Gracie and Callie are inseparable. although Callie is very much the leader. They spend most days grazing in the pasture; I know that Gracie now feels at home because she comes to me when I walk out into the pasture and joins Callie in calling to me when it is time for breakfast or dinner. Gracie loves carrots and apples. Thank you for saving Gracie!

Bay Rocket, bay g., 15.3+ and growing, 2004.
Bay Rocket was adopted by Francie of VA. Francie adopted Jaglander and Louis Que from MAHR. Sadly, Jag developed signs of wobbling, and in spite of best efforts, had to be put down. Shortly thereafter Bay Rocket came in to MAHR- we thought he looked so much like Jag, but didnt want to call Francie--- but she saw him and called us! She came to try him and adopted him on the spot. Thank you! |
