Prize, b. g., 16.1+h, 2003
Prize was adopted by Jen of MD. We have known Jen for a couple of years ago when she gave Bev's old pony China a great home. She has been toying with the idea of adding a TB to her family - she hasn't had a TB for years, and when we saw her at our trail ride this spring she asked us to keep her in mind if that special horse came along. As soon as she read about Prize's medical update, she called, came down to meet and ride him, and then took him home. She has a couple of older horses that need to eat mush and is great at putting and keeping weight on- so what was one more? A big thank you for giving him a great home!
Update that afternoon:
Prize got off the trailer a little quickly and was a little shaky when he first got here. He did well out in the field. He would not eat much of his food but was drinking fine. I gave him 5 quarts with supplement since I figured you had fed him 5 in the morning. I soaked it well........ I am not concerned yet but will keep you posted about him not eating his feed. I will try again later. I put Mama in with him after he wasn't eating his feed thinking that it might make him feel more relaxed. They hit it off and within minutes they were grazing side by side!
I can't wait to ride him again. I will probably wait a day or so until he has settled to do that. He is so pretty to watch. Thank you for letting me have him......

Spoken Vow, b.g., 16.0h+, 2003
Vow was adopted by Emily of PA as a show horse. She reports he is doing well but is looking more and more like an event horse! He had no top line at all when he left here, and all of her hard work has paid off!
Hi Bev- Madaket, fka Vow, is doing well. I started riding with an event trainer, Ashley Leith, over the winter when she was in monthly from FL. She hadn't seen him recently as I'd taken him to my regular hunter trainer a couple of times, but when she did she was very impressed with how far he's come since November. And he even impressed a local jumper trainer this weekend with his great jump and huge step! We're all in agreement that he may not make a hunter, but he sure likes to jump...so Ashley sees jumper/event prospect all over him. I may even get brave and try an elementary starter trial by the summer's end....we'll see!
Hope all is well.
Emily

Peppermint, dk. b. m., 12 hands, aged
Peppermint was adopted by Savannah of nearby Middletown. She and her family have been friends and supporters of MAHR for some time. Savannah's old pony was no longer able to ride much due to vision issues, and her new pony was a bit too big and not very kind. When they heard about Peppermint they came to see her- within twenty minutes Savannah was trotting around over ground poles off a lunge line. They took her for a lesson with Jane at Olde Hope and she was a star. Peppermint is very grateful for her very own girl. Mom Lisa reports that she can look out her kitchen window and watch Savannah climb on Peppermint bareback and ride around the pasture. What a happy story! Peppermint will never want for anything ever again. She is already putting weight on and getting a shine. Thank you!
