top placing American TB!

We are proud once again to be the recipient of a grant from Blue Horse Charities, for successfully rehabbing, retraining, and rehoming thoroughbreds. Blue Horse Charities was founded in 2001 and provides funding based on the number of thoroughbreds successfully placed in new homes. The organization is funded by Fasig-Tipton, Inc. a leading thoroughbred auction company, and its buyers and consignors. For more information, please visit

bluehorsecharities.org

A big thank you to Thoroughbred Charities of America for their 2011 grant. TCA gave us our first grant back when we had a vision and a plan and three rescued thoroughbreds. They have supported us every year since then. This is such a wonderful organization- the racing industry and its stars--the horses-- are better off because of their efforts.......

NEWS FLASH!!

MidAtlantic Horse Rescue has been chosen as a recipient for the second year of the ASPCA's Million Dollar Rescuing Racers Initiative

Read more here

Thanks to the generosity of the ASPCA Rescuing Racers Initiative, we are able to continue our popular "ASPCA On the Right Track" voucher program for all newly adopted MAHR horses. In addition, we have started the ASPCA Ambassador Award program and are giving our horses further schooling to make them even more adoptable! All of our MAHR horses are up to date on all vaccines, worming, farrier, and dental care, plus they know how to walk, trot, canter, and hack out cross country. As soon as they are ready, they start jumping! We are able to continue our work at the beautiful and historic Woodstock Farm, heaven on earth for horses! Thank you......

We had a fantastic time at Breyerfest! We met so many nice people and even ran into folks that we have met over the years through the rescue. The exhibitions were very cool- trick riding, dressage, colored TB stallion Sato, drill teams--you name it- and the Breyer models and accessories available were out of this world. We are grateful for the opportunity and hope to go back next year! We spent the weekend trying to figure out how we can put together an exhibition of off track TBs....any ideas?

Bev with Steamboat and Wish, her two rescues~

We are proud to be the beneficiary of DVCTA Dressage @ Fair Hill, June 11-12, 2011. They raised $1700!!!!! for the rescue- THANK YOU!!!!

Winner of the 2011 Beale Wright Morris Memorial Trophy: Amanda Smith

L-R: Beverly Strauss, Amanda Smith, Co-DC Bonnie Shriner. Congratulations!!

In loving memory of Beale Wright Morris

The winner of the Beale Wright Morris Memorial Trophy in 2010 was Kristen Warrington. Perseverance is this gal's middle name. She had to deal with quite a few very naughty ponies this year but never gave up. She did whatever she could to contribute to pony club. Kristen is now partnered with pony Dazzle, and is looking forward to 2011. She was selected by her peers and it is well deserved.

Beale was an internationally recognized event rider and former pony clubber whose top horses were all thoroughbreds off the track. She passed away in March 2005. This award is given annually to the member of St Augustine Pony Club (DE) who best embodies Beale's commitment to pony club, love of horses, and compassion towards others. Krsten also received a $100- grant towards a pony club clinic in the coming year. Noted sculptress Nancy Weimer Belden, of Newton, NJ, created the perpetual trophy.

Horses are kept on a private farm and
shown by appointment only!

If you want to meet the horses you must make an appointment- we do not live on the farm so don't just drop by- you will be wasting a trip!
Thanks for understanding.
